MMTA State Finals

State Finals are evaluations of pre-college students in the state of Mississippi who achieved superior ratings for their grade and performance category in the District Evaluations. There are four basic categories: Solo Performance, Technical Skills, Written Theory, and Sight-Reading. Students receive awards in each Grade/Division during the recital. Students also receive the highest averaged score in each Grade/Division as it is declared the winner. Pre-College Concerto and Original Composition winners’ medals will be presented at the MMTA State Conference in the fall semester.

Students receive ribbons if their average is 95 or higher, ranking in a descending numerical order for Second, Third and Fourth places. All other students who are non-winners but receive a rating of 95 or higher in their performance receive an Honorable Mention. Students who receive the highest composite score in the four basic categories receive a ribbon at State Finals. All students receive a certificate of participation.
